Term | Description
Thermal Conductivity - 'K' Value
The K value is the rate of heat transfer through a square metre of material per change in degree Celsius, from one side to the other.
Thermal Insulation
Material that will retard heat flow with reasonable effectiveness. Glasswool is the most commonly used material around the world.
Thermal Resistance - 'R' Value
A universal rating to measure thermal (heat) resistance. The higher the R value the better the resistance to heat transfer.
'U' Value Overall Thermal Transmittance
The reciprocal of the sum of the R values of the individual components of the building or structure. U = 1/R
