Collaroy is a 22-kilometre drive from the central business district of Sydney. Collaroy is famous for the surfing culture developed in its continuous 3.4 kilometre surf beach. The Salvation Army has its largest conference and outdoor education centres in Collaroy, it caters more than 400 people in many conferences, as well as churches, schools, and community groups. Collaroy's residents usually shop along Pittwater Road where cafes, restaurants, bars, and other small businesses can be found including but not limited to "The Collaroy" which was formerly known as the Surf Rock Hotel.
